SIKH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY LONDON BY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Sikh marriages, known as Anand Karaj, are full with meaningful customs that commemorate the joining of two families. Here are the Sikh Wedding Rituals Step-by-Step:-

Pre-Wedding Rituals

Rokka (Parental Acceptance)

Both families extend their blessings to the pair. The fathers of the bride and groom pay reciprocal visits to give gifts, demonstrating mutual acceptance.

Kurmai (Engagement)

Close family members pray with the groom in his home or Gurudwara. The bride and groom exchange rings and the groom's sister wraps him in a shawl featuring the bride's family blessings.

Maiya (Cleansing Ceremony)

In the days leading up to the wedding, turmeric better known as Haldi is applied on the bride and groom to ensure purity, accompanied by singing and joy.

Wedding Ceremony Rituals

The groom's relatives and friends greet him with music and dancing.
